New bus shelter installed in Fylde

Fylde Council launches a transformative initiative to install new bus shelters across St Annes. This initiative is a significant step forward in Fylde Council’s efforts to improve public transport facilities and enhance the overall experience for residents and visitors to St Annes.

Working in partnership with Clear Channel UK, this project is the first of an extensive process to replace all current advertising bus shelters across the Fylde Borough. The initiative will significantly enhance public transport infrastructure, providing modern, sustainable facilities for the community’s needs.

The first of the new shelters now sits on Clifton Drive North, near the North Beach car park entrance. Over the coming weeks, additional shelters will be installed in key locations, beginning with St Annes Square later this month. The rollout will continue progressively over the coming months.

Select new shelters will feature innovative Living Roofs, designed to support biodiversity and solar panels, both of which underscore the Council’s commitment to sustainability. The shelters are designed to last at least the full length of the 15-year contract.

Grant funding, made available under the Clear Channel contract, will also assist local In Bloom groups, with details to be announced shortly.

Councillor Michelle Morris said:

“I am pleased to see the first of many new bus shelters now installed on Clifton Drive North. These new and upgraded shelters, along with extra maintenance of existing ones, represent a significant investment in our borough’s infrastructure. Bus shelters are essential facilities for residents and visitors who rely on public transport, and ensuring they are modern, safe, and well-maintained is a priority for Fylde Council.”

Will Ramage, Clear Channel’s Managing Director, added:

"We’re excited to start the new year by announcing our partnership with Fylde Council on this forward-thinking initiative to replace and modernise bus shelters across the borough. At Clear Channel, we believe in creating infrastructure that serves a practical purpose while enhancing the communities we serve. By incorporating features like Living Roofs and solar panels, these shelters highlight how sustainability and innovation can work together to enrich public spaces and support a greener future.”

This ambitious project highlights Fylde Council’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art public transport facilities while promoting sustainability and fostering community engagement.
